My name is Josie Large, my affix is Wizaland Border Collies that myself and my late mother shared and I was born into a family that have owned border collies, and have grown up in the company of these wonderful dogs.
I am 45 years old and I have shown dogs since the age of 9. Although my passion has always been Border Collies, I also used to show Miniature Long Haired Dachshunds who were owned by the late Fred Thomas of 'Trumond Kennels'. With Trumond Kennels I handled some of Fred’s wonderful Dachshunds, Trumond Tarquin King and Trumond Touch of Class. Both of which I handled well and won with.
My first Reserve CC came when I was at Windsor Championship show 1989 I was handling Royale Tania ISDS 148756, the judge being Mr Bruce Kilsby
I qualified numerous times for Richmond Championship Junior Handling Semi Finals. After that I continued to show Border Collies and other breeds on and off for a number of years.
I started showing formally again in 1999, was issued a grant of affix for Wizinby Border Collies on the 3rd January 2001 I then applied for the Wizaland Border Collie affix which I owned alongside my late Mother Sue Large. .
I handle my own Border Collies and have shown for other people in the Breed and have been awarded numerous CCs and wins over the years both with other people’s dogs and my own. I have also made up my own Show Champions and I am breeder of an Obedience Champion.
My first UK Breed championship show was West Of England Border Collie Club 2011, followed by Midlands Border Collie Club and then I was Referee at the Border Collie Club of Great Britain 2017 and in 2018 I judged the males.
I have also judged in the following countries Denmark, Czech Republic and Belgium. I also have judged at the Jack Onofrio show in America, Louisville, where I judged the Puppy Sweepstakes in 2005.
