What is Show handling?
Show handling is a discipline binnen de hondensport waarbij de handler zijn of haar hond op een professionele en elegante manier presenteert in de showring. Het doel is om de hond zo goed mogelijk te laten uitkomen, waarbij de nadruk ligt op de samenwerking tussen hond en handler. De hond moet zich correct kunnen bewegen, netjes in stand blijven en zich laten betasten door de keurmeester. Een goede handler blijft op de achtergrond en zorgt ervoor dat de hond alle aandacht krijgt. Deze vaardigheid vereist training, inzicht en vooral een sterke band tussen mens en dier.
Workshop on Saturday morning from 9.30 AM until 12 noon
You get the chance to practise your skills under the guidance of experienced instructors during the workshop Show handling in the morning. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or you have some experience, this workshop will offer you valuable tips and techniques to improve your presentation. You will learn to present your dog the right way, how to respond to the directions you get from the judge and how to emphasize the strongest points of your dog. This workshop is for everybody, no matter the age of the dog or if the dog has a pedrigree.
Competition on Saturday afternoon
In the afternoon we are organising a friendly competition where you can put what you’ve learned into practice. The competition is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a relaxed and supporting environment. The competitors will be judged on their handling skills, where the emphasis will be on the cooperation with the dog and the presentation. This is a fun and instructive experience for the dog as well as for the handler.
